Ruwanweli Maha Seya - Anuradhapura



The Ruwanweli Maha Seya, also known as the Swarnamali Seya, Mahathupa (the Great Thupa) is a stupa in Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka. Two quarts or one Dona of the Buddha's relics are enshrined inside the stupa. It was built by King Dutugemunu's era (140 B.C). He was the king of Sri Lanka after a big war with king Elara. He defeated king Elara and became the ruler of the country.

But king Dutugemunu couldn't complete this thupa. Before finish it, he was died. After his brother king Saddhathissa became the ruler and he finished this huge thupa.
